Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 16, 2010 for the eighth annual Beautify Chula Vista Day.  This year's beautification project will focus on Southwestern Chula Vista, meeting at the Otay Recreation Center at 3554 Main Street, Chula Vista 91911.   Registration will be available beginning September 8, 2010.

We hope to see you there!

Volunteers have a tremendous impact and value in our community and we thank you for your interest in this event.  Volunteers are needed once more to rejuvenate neighborhoods, parks, and the community as a whole.  Please check the event website at www.beautifychulavista.org to get an early start on registration, opening September 8, 2010.

We would still like to encourage volunteerism and community pride at an ongoing level, and invite you to visit I Love A Clean San Diego’s website to learn about more ways to stay involved.  ILACSD coordinates monthly volunteer events as well as volunteer programs such as Adopt-A-Beach, which allows you to volunteer on your own time and in a location you choose.

Cleanup

Cleanup

Volunteering to cleanup trash is a great way to improve the health of your community. Participants will canvass local neighborhoods picking up debris, so this activity involves some walking as well as bending over to pick up litter. Volunteers of all ages are invited to beautify their communities by removing the debris that is not merely an eyesore but also represents a danger to public health.

Graffiti Removal

Removing graffiti beautifies cities by cleaning up this form of visual pollution. Graffiti negatively affects communities by decreasing property values, increasing residents' fear of crime, and attracting more graffiti artists. Removing graffiti deters offenders from continuing to deface property as well as improves the overall appearance and beauty of urban areas. While volunteers remove litter, they can identify locations of graffiti to report to the City's Graffiti Control Program, and can additionally use towels with a product that dissolves away the graffiti paint.
